LET’S FIND HIM AND HIS TWO PLANETARY PALS!
HIT THE DARKNESS BEFORE SUNRISE THIS WEEK AT 5AM AND LOOK SOUTHEAST.
ORION’S HOURGLASS FIGURE AND THREE SPARKLY BELT STARS WILL BE IMMEDIATELY OBVIOUS.
THIS FANTASTIC WINTER CONSTELLATION IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SUN IN THE SUMMER, BUT COME FALL, HE’S BACK AND RIGHT NOW HE’S SPORTING A TIARA OF PLANETS DIRECTLY ABOVE ORION’S HEAD IS THE PLANET JUPITER SHINING LIKE A STAR.
ALSO ABOVE HIS HEAD BUT TRAILING BEHIND IS RED MARS, ACTUALLY SITTING IN THE CONSTELLATION GEMINI.
IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY THE PLANETS DON’T TWINKLE.
THAT’S BECAUSE THEY’RE JUST THAT MUCH CLOSER AND BRIGHTER!
TWO PLANETS AND ORION ALL TOGETHER IN A SINGLE SKY?
CAN WE ASK FOR A BETTER FALL FEATURE?
I CAN’T THINK OF ONE.
