EVERY WINTER YOU CAN FIND TWO BEARS AND TWO DOGS IN THE EVENING STARS LET S GET OUT THERE AND FIND THEM!
HIT THE SKIES AT 9:30PM AND FACE NORTH TO FIND THE BIG DIPPER ASTERISM STANDING ON ITS HANDLE.
THESE STARS MARK THE REAR END AND TAIL OF THE LARGER CONSTELLATION CALLED URSA MAJOR, OR THE BIG BEAR.
NOW LET THE TWO STARS ON THE END OF THE BIG DIP-PERS SPOON POINT YOU TO POLARIS, A.K.A.
THE NORTH STAR.
THIS MARKS THE END OF THE LITTLE DIPPER AND THE TAIL FOR THE CONSTELLATION URSA MINOR, THE LIT-TLE BEAR.
NOW FLIP AROUND.
LOOKING SOUTH YOU SHOULD SEE SIRIUS THE DOG STAR THE NOSE OF THE BIG DOG, CANIS MAJOR.
UP AND TO THE LEFT OF SIRIUS YOU'LL FIND ANOTHER BRIGHT STAR CALLED PROCYON.
PROCYON IS PART OF THE LITTLE DOG CONSTELLATION CANIS MINOR.
THERE YO HAVE IT!
